2013 - Coming To America
Stratford East Picturehouse

Creating experiences. Creating communities.

Husband and wife team Anthony and Teanne Andrews first thought of We Are Parable when they realised they’d never seen one of their favourite films Coming To America in a cinema. After securing a venue, they started to think about how to create an event that showed the audience just how much they loved the film. They started to add new elements to the events that reminded them of the film, from rose bearers welcoming guests, to performing musicians and an African arts and crafts marketplace in the foyer.

The experience of the audience was of paramount importance to them in 2013, and the philosophy of “Experience Over Everything” now is consistent through all of the work We Are Parable do.

Whether hosting award winning filmmakers or screening events around the world, We Are Parable remain focused on offering consistently high quality events to audiences around the world.

Over the last ten years, they believe that experiencing films as a community leads to a deeper emotional connection between the audience and the film they see; in turn, the audience are more likely to share details about the film to their peer network.

We Are Parable also believe in providing Black Filmmakers with unique experiences to platform their work in the UK and globally with their projects: Momentum, The Shot List, Love Letters To Cinema and Experience Over Everything.
